Small-Scale Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training
Expert teams from UZW Łomża (PL), EPKA Thessaloniki (GR) and SUR Nitra (SK) met in Nitra from 3–8 November 2025.
Representatives of UZW presented the rules for project implementation with a focus on content and management.
Experts from Thessaloniki and Łomża familiarised themselves with Slovak solutions, taking into account the experience of the University of the Third Age of SUR in supporting senior activities. Slovak experts presented the specifics and activities of UTW SUR. They discussed concrete examples of activities that can serve as examples and good practices.
The experts discussed and prepared a preliminary version of a partial intellectual output.
During the meeting, the experts also planned the next partnership meeting, this time in Greece, focused on training and educating the partners.
Activities
International activity focused on partner training and education in Slovakia
The first partnership meeting took place from 3–8 November 2025. The meeting was organised by the University of the Third Age of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.
The aim of the meeting was to learn about:
a) Slovak methods of:
- activating seniors – permanent and occasional forms, their goals, methods of engaging them in volunteering,
- creating cooperation between senior organisations and their social, work, educational/school and environmental surroundings,
- sharing and exchanging experiences within and outside the organisation (who the recipients are, what forms exist).
Partners discussed the identification of elements of senior organisations’ work in Slovakia and their individual activities in the context of sharing and exchanging experience in involving seniors in volunteer activities.
Representatives of UZW in Łomża (PL), EPKA Thessaloniki (GR) and UTW SUR in Nitra (SK) took part in the meeting.

About the project:
The international partnership aims at exchanging experiences and good practices, creating conditions and developing tools to maintain the activity of seniors – members and beneficiaries of the partners’ services. It also aims to transform the role of seniors from “recipients” to “contributors”, in line with the concept of active ageing.
Project objectives:
- to create an intellectual output – an innovative programme (1 set) for adult education and the development of seniors’ creativity in their new role as volunteers,
- to increase the competences of the 3 partners in activating seniors through volunteering and sharing their competences,
- through trainings using the developed tool, to prepare 60 seniors for the role of volunteers,
- to improve the competences of 85 UTWs and organisations supporting seniors by sharing the tool and project experience as examples of good practice.
Output
We aim to understand solutions and exchange knowledge on:
- linking activities and cooperation with the community in work with senior volunteers,
- examples and good practices in the project field,
- cooperation between senior organisations and the community: own initiatives, regular and occasional cooperation with the younger generation, sharing and exchange within the community (organisations/associations, clubs, public and NGO centres, stakeholders),
- using seniors’ life, work, mentoring, interest-based and other experiences in peer, intergenerational and community relations,
- mutual understanding as the basis for planning and developing joint projects aimed at improvements and new approaches to activating seniors,
- building partners’ capacities to develop international cooperation,
- comparing and evaluating acquired solutions and good practices in terms of adaptation, development of the educational programme and its application in practice,
- creating partial and final intellectual outputs.
