Annual conference SEAM 2025

The INVEST project provides topics and space for expert meetings within the framework of international scientific conferences. On September 11–12, 2025, the annual conference of the Slovak Economic Association will take place at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. The event will be thematically linked to Work Package 6 – Circular Biobased Economy. Conference is co-organized by the Research Centre for Agriculture and Bioeconomy of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. The keynote speakers at the SEAM 2025 conference will be Professor Johan Swinnen and Professor Jan van Ours.

As the Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Managing Director of the Systems Transformation Science Group at CGIAR, Professor Johan Swinnen brings a wealth of experience in agricultural and food policy, political economy, and global value chains. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served as Chief Economist at the World Bank and as an economic advisor to the European Commission. He also held the position of President of the International Association of Agricultural Economists and has been a visiting professor at renowned universities, including Stanford University.

Professor Jan van Ours is distinguished expert in labour market economics. He has held positions at prestigious institutions such as Erasmus University Rotterdam and Tilburg University. Among his many contributions to the field, he is the co-author of The Economics of Imperfect Labor Markets, a key reference work in labour economics. In 1996, he was awarded the Hicks-Tinbergen Medal by the European Economic Association for his groundbreaking research. His research focuses on the dynamics of unemployment, labour market policies, and the economics of sports.
