The Minister of Environment of the Slovak Republic László Sólymos awarded 32 individuals and two teams for their contribution to the environment, including doc. Ing. Alexander Fehér, PhD., from the Department of Sustainable Development of the Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.

The traditional awards in three categories - Letter of Thanks, Honorable Mention and Award of the Minister of the Environment – were awarded at the premises of Moyzes Hall of the Comenius University in Bratislava on June 7, 2016, to experts and current as well as former employees of subsidized and sectoral organizations of the Ministry.
The awards are an expression of gratitude for outstanding achievements and significant contribution to the environmental protection and the development of environmental awareness. "The modernization of the society may not proceed at the expense of the environment. The nature has to be protected and no one mustn´t be indifferent to what is happening around. The Slovaks should think more about it. In the resort operates a range of experts who are doing their job conscientiously, responsibly and with personal commitment, these people we have to honor, highlight their contributions and appreciate their efforts. And my aim is to promote solutions where economic development goes hand in hand with environmental responsibility, "said Minister László Sólymos.
The Award of the Minister of Environment is awarded as non-financial honorary award for outstanding achievements and longstanding contribution to environmental care and environmental development since 1999. The ceremony is held annually on the occasion of World Environment Day.
An award winning expert from SUA in Nitra doc. Alexander Fehér is dedicated to research, education and training in the field of sustainable use of agricultural land, he deals with issues of biodiversity of flora and ethno-ecology. At the same time he is acting for eight years as a director of the National Center of the Baltic University Programme at SUA in Nitra with the scope throughout the whole Slovakia.
