The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra hosted representatives from Slovak and Czech universities, as well as companies collaborating with universities in the field of information technology from June 26-27. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Youth of the Slovak Republic, and SPU Rector Klaudia Halászová, the 31st annual UNINFOS conference (UNIversity INFOrmation Systems) with the subtitle "Digital Future of Higher Education" took place at the Creative Center of SUA.
On the pre-conference day, June 25, several significant events occurred. The first was a seminar on the Portal of Universities and Central Information Systems of Higher Education, opened by Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Internationalization, Professor Lucia Palšová. Basic information about the University Portal and other central information systems of higher education, such as the Central Electronic Application, Central Register of Employees, Mobility Online, eKega, Register of Study Programs, Register of Study Fields, and others, was discussed. The Project Manager of the University Portal and the President of the EUNIS-SK Association acknowledged the initial members of the research team with a letter of appreciation. The seminar was attended by 110 participants, including 20 online. The discussion's questions and topics will be addressed by the Ministry of Education's working group on central projects at their next meeting.
Following the seminar, three out of five working groups of the EUNIS-SK Association, which includes our university, met: the University Portal Working Group, E-Education in Slovak Higher Education, and Cybersecurity. In the afternoon, a panel discussion on the topic "Digital Future of Higher Education" took place, with representatives from university management, the Ministry of Education, and the field of information technology. The recording is available on the conference website and in the magazine "Objektívom" on TV Nitrička. As part of the accompanying events, conference participants could visit historic Nitra by tourist train and the Ponitrianske Museum. The day concluded with a meeting of the Executive Committee of the EUNIS-SK Association at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM), hosted by the Dean, Elena Horská.
The first day of the two-day conference opened on June 26 with Professor Drahoslav Lančarič, Vice-Rector for Science and Research, representing Rector Klaudia Halászová. Both days of the conference were dedicated to main thematic areas, which also named the individual conference sections: ICT Development Trends, their Applications in Higher Education, Information Security at Universities, Innovative Forms of Education at Universities, e-Learning, Use of Virtual Reality in Teaching, Artificial Intelligence and its Use in Higher Education, and the University Libraries in the Digitalization Process. During the lunch break, conference participants could explore the Creative Center's facilities.
The first day of the conference concluded with a ceremonial meeting of seminar and conference participants and invited guests to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the University Portal and the 30th anniversary of UNINFOS conferences, opened by EUNIS-SK Association President Engineer Vladimír Pisarský and seminar organizer Dr. Darina Tothová. The event was also greeted by FEM Vice-Dean for Development and Communication, Dr. Radomíra Hornyák Gregáňová. The second day of the conference continued with expert presentations from university participants and partner organizations, including a parallel section on e-Education.
The conference attracted 140 participants, including 23 online, with 27 expert presentations. Interested parties can listen to archived recordings and later read them in the conference proceedings, to be published on the conference website.
It has been 30 years since those interested in ICT first met at SUA, then known as the Higher School of Agriculture in Nitra. It was in April 1995, during which the seminar attracted 160 participants. SUA hosted the conference for the eighth time this year.
