SUA at the World Education Fair in Romania
02.10.2025The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra participated in the World Education Fair for bachelor’s and master’s/engineering programmes in three Romanian cities – Iași, Constanța and Bucharest – from 25 to 27 September.
Our university was represented by Professor Martin Bačkor, Vice-Dean for Science, Research and International Relations at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science. SUA’s participation was supported by the project Support for the Promotion of Higher Education Institutions, implemented within the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic.
The event in Iași, held on 25 September, attracted more than 300 students from the surroundings of this northeastern Romanian city located near the border with Moldova. They showed particular interest in economics, biology and biotechnology, food sciences as well as technical fields.
The fair in Constanța, a city on the Black Sea coast, took place on 26 September and was attended by more than 400 students. Their interest was focused mainly on economics, agriculture, biology and biotechnology, and food sciences. As the city is also home to a secondary school specializing in naval studies, many prospective students inquired about opportunities to study technical fields at SUA.
The final day of the World Education Fair was held on 27 September in Bucharest. More than 50 institutions providing higher education in Europe, North America and Asia took part. Universities from Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Romania, Malta, Ireland, Cyprus, the USA, the United Arab Emirates and Slovakia presented their study programmes. The event was attended by more than one thousand secondary school students, who expressed interest in practically the full range of study fields currently offered at SUA.
The SUA presentation was supported by volunteers from Romanian secondary schools, which made it possible to respond to questions from a significantly larger number of visitors. Colleagues from universities in Denmark and the Netherlands also expressed interest in cooperation in the field of education and scientific research, particularly with regard to EU Horizon projects and the Erasmus+ programme.
