16.04.2026
Five scientists from the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra were ranked among the world’s most influential researchers in 2025, according to the internationally recognized database compiled annually by a team led by John P. A. Ioannidis at Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier.
The university’s representatives included Marián Brestič, Marek Živčák, Štefan Bojnec, Miroslava Kačániová, and Sunita Kataria, all recognized among the most cited researchers globally. Their inclusion reflects long-term, systematic scientific work and significant contributions to their respective fields.
The Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists 2025 ranking evaluates approximately 236,000 researchers worldwide. Based on data from the Scopus database, it uses a comprehensive set of bibliometric indicators, including citation counts, publication quality, co-authorship patterns, and author position. The methodology excludes self-citations and normalizes results across disciplines to ensure fair comparison.
Each year, only top-performing scientists are included—either those ranked among the 100,000 most cited globally or those within the top 2% of their respective fields.
By country, the highest representation in the ranking comes from the United States, China, and the United Kingdom.
The inclusion of SUA researchers in this prestigious list highlights the high quality of research at the university and underscores its growing international reputation in science and research.
