Representatives of Uzbek universities presented interest in cooperation with SUA

The main aim of this visit was to seek the new opportunities for cooperation, obtain the information about educational and research activities of the SUA in Nitra and to present their higher education institutions.

The Rector of the SUA, Dr.h.c. prof. Ing. Peter Bielik, PhD, accepted the guests at the SUA - the Rector of Samarqand State Medical Institute Prof. Azamat Shamsijev, Vice-Rector of SSMU Zafar Amin, the Head of the Department for Development of Higher Education of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Shakarbaj Zhanekulov, the Head of the Office of Foreign Relations of the Tashkent State Agricultural University Sanzhary Adilov. Also present at the meeting was the Head of International Relations Office Mgr. Vladislav Valach.
At the beginning of the meeting the guests briefly presented their institutions and the possibilities of joint cooperation. They said that the cooperation could be implemented in all areas of research and educational activities, especially in the food hygiene and safety, ecology, biology and others. They reported that the cooperation would be also possible with the Council of Rectors of Uzbekistan which is currently represented in 58 local higher education institutions and 15 branches as well as in seven foreign universities (Singapure, Korea, Russia).
Subsequently, the Rector Prof. Peter Bielik acquainted the guests briefly with educational, scientific, research and international activities of the SUA. He presented the activities of Visegrad University Association and the opportunity to participate in its activities and the activities of the AgroBioTech Research Centre. "I believe that today's first meeting opens the door for mutually advantageous cooperation in education, science and research, exchange of PhD students and our teachers," said the Rector. He informed that ten students from Uzbekistan study the master degree programme at the SUA in Nitra. The wide possibilities are also offered within the new Erasmus + programme which allows to intensify mobility and to accept more and more students at the SUA.
At the end of the meeting the Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the SUA and State Samarqand Medical Institute. The Memorandum of Cooperation will be prepared to sign also with the Tashkent State Agricultural University.
As a part of the programme, the guests, accompanied by the Rector prof. Peter Bielik and the Director of the AgroBioTech Research Centre doc. Ing. Tatiana Bojňanská, PhD., viewed the selected laboratories of the newly built.
