President of the Slovak Republic Awarded State Honors to 30 Figures Including SUA Graduate
09.01.2019On January 8, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of creation of the Slovak Republic, the president of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Kiska awarded 30 figures of social and cultural life. Among awarded scientists, artists, athletes was also Slovak grain breeder who is gradute of our university. The ceremony took place in Reduta, concert hall of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in Bratislava.

Former graduate of the SUA, Gyula Zalabai, was awarded Pribina´s cross of 1st class for an extraordinary merit for the economic development of the Slovak Republic and significant scientific results in the field of ceral breeding.
G. Zalabai was born in Šahy. Since 1983, after he graduated from SUA in Nitra, he is working in a company that continues the famous (Czech) Slovak tradition of cereal breeding. He is the author of the most comprehensive and successful breeding program of densely grain cereals and, according to some people also a visionary with the ability to predict the requirements of each season for a suitable crop, for every weather, for every light and climate; economy or requirements for special nutrition.
