Perspective cooperation with Latvian University of Agriculture
23.06.2015The main aim of the visit of three-member delegation from the Latvian University of Agriculture (LPU) led by the Rector, Prof. Irina Pilvere, was to discuss and outline the new possibilities for bilateral cooperation between the Latvian University of Agriculture and Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.
The main aim of the visit of three-member delegation from the Latvian University of Agriculture (LPU) led by the Rector, Prof. Irina Pilvere, was to discuss and outline the new possibilities for bilateral cooperation between the Latvian University of Agriculture and Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. It took place at June 8-11, 2015 at the invitation of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences of SUA which has been cooperating with LPU already for two years in the project TEMPUS 5444529-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-LV-TEMPUS-JPCR: Modernization of higher education in the field of food safety and quality in Tajikistan. LPU is the main coordinator of the project, local coordinator for FBFS is the Vice-Dean for International Relations, ECTS and Public Relations Prof. Ing. Miroslava Kačániová, PhD.
During the visit of SUA, the Latvian delegation attended several meetings. On June 9, at FBFS, the Rector I. Pilvere met with the Dean Prof. Ing. Ján Tomáš, PhD. and Vice-Dean M. Kačániová. The discussed the possibilities of further project activities. After that prof. Pilvere was received by the Rector of the SUA Prof. Ing. Peter Bielik, PhD. After presentation of the LPU university and its efforts to expand current cooperation also through the involvement of LPU into the activities of Visegrad University Association and signing of Memorandum of Cooperation between SUA and LPU. As she said, they would like to cooperate in the field of science, research, exchange of students and staff. She offered the possibility for two students of SUA to participate in the international summer school called Daugava River, visible, invisible focused on research in the field of landscape engineering, which will be organized by LPU from July, 31 until August, 10. Rector of SUA agreed with the proposal to extend the cooperation with LPU.
Meeting of Latvian delegation with the management of Faculty of Economics and Management, the Dean of the FEM Prof. Dr. Ing. Elena Horská and Vice- Dean for International Relations and Public Relations doc. Ing. Natália Turčeková, PhD. was also held.
Subsequently, the representatives of LPU – the project manager Ilvita Švāne and the coordinator for the International Relations from the Faculty of Economics and Social Development Vineta Tetere discussed about the concrete cooperation with FAFR. Department of Poultry and Small Farm Animals they discussed possibilities of cooperation in beekeeping with Ing. Róbert Chlebo, PhD. and in fisheries with Ing. Jaroslav Andreji, PhD. At the Department of Animal Husbandry they talked about cooperation in hippology with prof. Ing. Marko Halo, PhD.
Ing. Gabriela Slivinská from the International Relations Office informed them about current state of the implementation of the Erasmus + programme at SUA and about the possibilities of mobilities of students and staff.
Later Rector I. Pilvere and the representatives of LPU visited the laboratories of FBFS at the Department of Microbiology, Department of Storing and Processing of Plant Products and the Department of Physiology. Finally, they were interested in the visit of botanical garden and Equestrian Centre of SUA. They were also honorable guests at the graduation of students of FBFS held on June 11, 2015 in the auditorium of SUA.
