The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra was the organizer of the introductory online meeting of the partners of the European Universities project entitled INNOVATIONS of Regional Sustainability: European Universities Alliance - INVEST, no. 101004073, which took place on 23-25 November.
It was attended by representatives of all participating universities: University of Thessaly (Greece), University of Agribusiness and Rural Development (Bulgaria), Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands) and Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (Slovakia).
The introductory day was dedicated to a meeting of the highest representatives of the partner universities. Rector of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, doc. Klaudia Halászová, represented by the Vice-Rector for Strategic Development doc. Drahoslav Lančarič. The Rectors and their representatives presented their expectations and discussed the challenges in implementing the project, as well as the expected results. Together, they agreed that a project of this scale is a huge opportunity to improve education, research, skills and the skills of teaching and non-teaching staff at universities.
The next two days of the meeting took place under the leadership of prof. Ing. Pavol Schwarcz, PhD., who is the coordinator of the whole consortium. They focused on practical issues of project implementation. The partners discussed their tasks in individual work packages, the possibilities of unifying the usual approaches at partner universities, as well as the most appropriate procedures for the implementation of joint activities. Another important issue was the possibility of implementing other project activities that will contribute to the sustainability of the established Alliance. The discussion also included the financial and administrative rules of the program, which are necessary for the successful implementation of the project.
The project of European universities, which the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, as the only one in Slovakia, coordinates within the given scheme, started to be implemented on November 1, 2020. It will take three years.
