The commission, composed of foreign experts, selected eight teams from the fifteen submitted applications, which made it to the finals. The presentation was attended by eight teams: Wizzi, Lokálny trh, Vratný obal, ekolive, EcoDish, QEHeC, Meating, Peelo. During the Demo Day, the finalists were evaluated by a jury consisting of three representatives from food and business practice from Slovakia.
Start-up entrepreneurs in the food and agricultural sector demonstrated their innovative ideas and fought for 5,000, 3,000 and 1,000 euros. This year, the audience also voted online, deciding on the amount of 2,000 euros.
The first prize went to young startups, who presented a project aimed at using agricultural residues for the production of compostable disposable tableware. Second place got the idea of creating and developing an application that can track the date of food consumption in households.
The third place went to the team that presented the innovation for sustainable packaging production and the way packaging is used for a long time.
The audience liked the project called Local Market the most. Its authors designed a web portal that serves as a map and search engine for local Slovak food and beverages and an e-shop for products.
