National Centre Baltic University Programme at SUA in Nitra

The Baltic University Program (BUP) creates a network of more than 230 universities which are concentrated in the Baltic Sea countries, respectively rivers that flow into the Baltic Sea run through these countries. The BUP focuses on the issues of sustainable development, environmental protection and democracy in the Baltic Sea region.

The headquarters of the organization is the University of Uppsala in Sweden.

The aim is to support the key role of universities in democratic, peaceful and sustainable development. This will be achieved by developing university courses, promoting interdisciplinary research activities and participating in transdisciplinary projects in cooperation with authorities, municipalities and others.

Since 1 October 2018, the Slovak National Center of the Baltic University has been set up at the SPU in Nitra, which task is to associate organizations in Slovakia interested in the issue of sustainable development. Among the existing and active partners of the National Center of the Baltic University in Slovakia is the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Department of Aquatic Landscape). As the Head of the Center, which will be established on SUA Rectorate, was appointed Ing. Barbora Čakovská, PhD.
