World Food Day is an opportunity to step up efforts to achieve food security and proper nutrition for all. This year's celebrations are taking place at a time when many countries are facing the serious consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. World Food Day therefore calls for global solidarity this year to help all people, especially the most vulnerable, recover from the crisis and increase the resilience of food systems to withstand growing volatility and climate shocks, provide affordable and sustainable healthy eating for all, and a decent living for workers in the food system. This requires improved social protection systems and the new opportunities offered by digitalisation and e-commerce, as well as more sustainable farming practices that protect the Earth's natural resources, our health and the climate.
