Essential Science Indicators (part of the WEB OF SCIENCE databases) is a tool for statistical and qualitative evaluation, which is based on statistical and citation data from other Thomson Reuters databases (Clarivate analytics). It allows you to identify the latest scientific trends, statistically analyze countries and institutions by discipline, identify top scientists. This product monitors more than 8,500 periodicals and its outputs are one of the bases for the evaluation of universities in key rankings.
ESI mainly contains rankings of the most cited authors / scientists, evaluations of institutions (universities, corporations, research laboratories, etc.), evaluations of countries and evaluations of journals. The database lists only those scientists and those institutions that in at least one area have reached the total number of citations in the last ten years exceeding the so-called "Citation threshold", ie the number that ranks them among the highest rated scientists / institutions in the field.
In the evaluation of scientists who in at least one area have reached the total number of citations in the last ten years exceeding the so-called "Citation threshold", there are currently two teachers from SUA, both from the Department of Plant Physiology of the FAFR: prof. Ing. Marián Brestič, CSc., and doc. Ing. Marek Zivčák, PhD.
