Members of the folklore ensemble Zobor of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra supported the Valentine Blood Drop event on February 4. Ten boys and girls gave blood wearing national costumes in the National Transfusion Centre in Nitra.
Among the group members there were first-time donors, as well as a 13-time blood donor Michal Obročník. When asked what led him to donate blood regularly, he said that this is the way everyone can help. "I am healthy so I can help someone who needs blood”. Every year I manage to take a few classmates and I recommend to donate blood to others. We never know when we might need, "he added.
The motto of this year's nationwide campaign is Love is in our blood. Prove it too! It is focused on addressing blood donors, mainly young people, but also family members. Its aim is to spread the idea of blood donation, and motivation to blood donation. You can also join the Valentine Blood Drop on March 21.
