Students of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Technology (FBFT) also joined the nationwide call Let's Help Our Agricultural and Food Industry, which was supported by the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra at the end of March. They decided to help with the shortage of manpower in the food industry, and during the fight against the coronavirus, they volunteered for internships in companies that had personnel problems and needed help in this difficult situation.
"We are glad to have students who, even in these difficult times, were willing to help and thus demonstrate the importance and justification of studying at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science," the faculty website states. "Thank you for your personal commitment ".
The initiative was launched in April 2020 by the Food Chamber of Slovakia and the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Slovakia, and gradually other industrial unions and associations headed by the Slovak Chamber of Agriculture and Food joined it. The idea was to help with the shortage of manpower in the food industry. Students of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, based on the invitation of the Rector Doc. Ing. Klaudia Halászová, PhD., joined the initiative as part of their mandatory practice and, through personal commitment, helped to ensure a sufficient amount of food for all of us.
