The AgroBio Tech Research Centre is an important research projects undertaken from EU funds under the Operational Programme Research and Development realised at our university. It aims to promote applied research in the field of agro-biology, biotechnology, agricultural technology and food and bio-energy.
Project is coordinated by the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. Partners of the project are the Institute of Plant Genetics and Biotechnology SAS in Nitra and Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra.
The centre will concentrate knowledge of agricultural biotechnology and food sciences and technologies and help them succeed in practice. It will also be linked to the concentration of professional capacity with the possibility of linking scientific work with the business sector. One of the objective of the project is to increase the attractiveness of agricultural research in Slovakia and expand scientific and research cooperation in the region as well as the international arena.
This research project will be supported by an amount of over 26.3 mil EUR. It will include financing from EU funds (22.4 mil.), state budget (2.6 mil.), as well as co-financing by the university itself (5% of the total, representing about 1.3 mil.). Project activities will be implemented from April 2013, its completion is scheduled for June 2015.
