General characteristics
The Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Nitra is the only educational institution in Slovakia whose mission is to train
university graduates for all resorts of agriculture and food industry. Extensive possibilities to acquire knowledge in the area
of biological, economical, technical and social sciences create good conditions for the graduates to find jobs also in other resorts
of economy.
During recent years all SUA faculties have undergone deep transformation changes resulting in the formation
of new educational systems, compatible with other universities, in the development of interdisciplinary programmes as well as
cross-disciplinary and part-time study at other faculties in Slovakia and abroad. As the first university in Slovakia, the SUA
introduced the ECTS system at all its faculties during the academic year 2001/02.
University Structure
The SUA consists of the following 6 faculties:
Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources,
Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences,
Faculty of Economics and Management,
Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development,
Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering,
Faculty of Agricultural Engineering.
