Mobility Programmes and Recognition Procedures
| |
The student may pass part of his/her study at a foreign university. The existence of ECTS at European universities has created
favourable prerequisites for student mobilities and mutual recognition of credits. To support the student mobilities, the SAU
approved the following common directive for the preparation of mobilities, their performance and recognition of credits:
1. The student is entitled to apply to spend part of his/her study (henceforth as "mobility") at a foreign partner institution (henceforth as "institution"). "The institution" can be an educational or a scientific one, associated with the SAU by bilateral or multilateral agreements (treaties) which form the basis for such a study. The "mobility" can be carried out also at foreign universities which do not have an agreement with the SAU.
2. The student "mobility" (in all levels and forms of study) is a study abroad based on the LEARNING AGREEMENT (LA) (henceforth as "agreement").
3. The condition of the mobility at an Institution is a trilateral agreement among the sending institution, the receiving institution and the sent student. The prerequisite of the mobility spent at an institution that does not have an agreement with the SAU is a bilateral agreement between the sending and the receiving institutions. In the case of PhD. students, the tutor's approval is necessary.
4. The Agreement must contain at least the following data:
- academic year of a mobility and a field of study
- name of student
- name of the sending institution and the country (the SAU, a particular faculty, the Slovak Republic)
- name of the receiving institution and the country
- plan of a study mobility:
a) course unit code as indicated in the information package
b) course unit title as indicated in the information package
c) number of ECTS credits (per a subject)
- the student's signature and date
- On behalf of the sending institution (SAU):
a) name and signature of the faculty ECTS coordinator, date
b) name and signature of the dean, date
c) name and signature of a mobility institutional coordinator, date
- On behalf of the receiving institution:
a) name and signature of the faculty mobility coordinator, date
b) name and signature of the institutional mobility coordinator, date
The above data apply also for changes in the approved mobility.
5. The agreement is prepared upon a student's application (henceforth as "application"). The student consults the application with a faculty coordinator and a vice-dean for education, a PhD. student also with a tutor. The planned extent of study should be of the same number of credits as awarded for a particular period of study at the sending faculty (30 credits per semester). The dean decides about categorization of the proposed subject into compulsory, compulsory upon choice, and optional subjects, on the basis of the proposal by a vice-dean for education, or the guarantor of a study programme. The student is selected by a commission during a selection procedure (if mobility is carried out through a selection procedure). The commission assesses the above mentioned documents and the student's preconditions for a successful mobility. The mobility is approved by the dean.
6. The approved proposal for an agreement, together with the student application form, will be sent by the SAU to the receiving institution. It will confirm the agreement and determine the mobility duration (if not agreed otherwise). In the case of the mobility carried out at other than a partner institution, the sending institution gives its approval with the student application form, based on the acceptance of the study plan proposed by the receiving institution (if not agreed otherwise).
7. Any changes in the agreement must be done by a written supplement to the agreement which must be approved by all agreement parties.
8. Upon the return, the student will submit the Transcript of Records to the Dean's office. The dean automatically recognizes the subjects and credits awarded in accordance with the agreement. Credits are counted in the year in which the mobility was carried out. The Transcript forms a part of the student's documentation in the faculty's study office.
9. If the student, after coming back from the mobility, will not gain the required number of credits for the academic year, the regular procedure according to the faculty's system of study will follow.
10. Doing the scientific part of the PhD. study programme abroad and recognizing the credits is carried out according to the student's approved individual study programme, and in accordance with a proposed program, consulted with a tutor and approved by the receiving institution.
