The start of intense bilateral cooperation in the fields of science, education, research and culture was the subject of a meeting of six representatives of the BNAU in Ukraine, led by the Rector prof. Dr. Anatolii Danylenko, with SUA representatives in Nitra. They visited SUA on 9th October.

The meeting was hosted by the SUA Rector Dr.h.c. prof. Ing Peter Bielik, PhD. The SUA Vice-Rectors and the representatives of the Office of International Relations and International Educational Programs were also present at the meeting. The rector of the Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Finland prof. Petri Raivo, who is currently on a working visit to SUA also participated in the evaluation process of the Erasmus + K2 project ERDI Knowledge Alliance, which is being implemented at SUA under the coordination of the Finnish university for the third year.

In the first part of the program, the Ukrainian guests introduced their institution, which has a 385-year history and has similar scientific and research interests as SUA in Nitra. At present, there are 12 academicians working at the BNAU and the university is attended by 10 000 students. The university has seven faculties focused on agrobiotechnology, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, ecology, law and linguistics, and so on. The university has five research institutes with 13 research laboratories. As expressed by the BNAU representatives, they are interested in developing active cooperation with SUA in education, science and research, international projects and programs focused on bioenergy, biotechnology, food safety, public administration and regional development. It can also be developed through the academic mobility of students, PhD students, teachers as well as through joint scientific articles and publications, information networks and data banks, exchange of existing materials and learning technologies. One possibility is, according to prof. A. Danylenko, for example, the establishment of joint research centers for basic and applied research and the creation of joint study programs.

Vice-Rector for Educational Activities and ECTS prof. RNDr. Zdenka Gálová, CSc., informed our guests about the study programs and study possibilities at SUA. She noted that the SUA has already traditionally good cooperation with the Ukrainian institutes and signed several contracts with the Ukrainian universities and institutions. Vice-Rector for Science and Research prof. Ing. Jan Gaduš, PhD. spoke in detail about the SUA research activity and the activities of excellent SUA centres- the AgroBioTech Research Center and also the SUA agricultural holding in Kolíňany.
