AgroBioTech Research Centre of SUA in Nitra held a meeting titled Towards Food, Nutrition and Health Research Infrastructure under the auspices of the Rector of SUA Dr.h.c. prof. Ing. Peter Bielik, PhD. The meeting was co-organized with Wageningen University (Netherlands) and Quadram Institute Bioscence (Great Britain).

The abovementioned institutions were represented by Karin Zimmermann and Paul Finglas, who introduced the mission and aims of the consortium Food, Nutrition and Health Research Infrastructure (FNHRI).

The consortium focuses on the creation of research infrastructure in the field of nutrition, food system and health care system in relation to the consumer and health. It was established by Denmark, Netherlands, Italy and Great Britain, and subsequently extended by France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Slovakia and Slovenia.

SUA in Nitra made the first steps to present Slovakia to consortium in 2016 by signing the memorandum on establishment of platform titled AgroBioFood in collaboration with National Agricultural and Food Centre and the association Bioceonomy Cluster. The platform was supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, which issued a Letter of Acceptance recognizing it as an expert partner for research and development in the field of foodstuffs and biotechnology and, at the same time, as an official representative of the Slovak Republic in relation to European and international initiatives and programmes.

In the end of the workshop, participants and guests had the opportunity to see the laboratories and equipment of AgroBioTech Research Centre.
