New Chill-Out Zone for Students
by Kamila Ondrasova
Green relaxation zones for students are a regular part of modern universities. They provide them with relaxation and comfort in nature. SUA in Nitra also decided to build such zone, and re-cultivated the area behind the Dormitory Akademická. The new Chill-out zone was officially opened on 15 November 2018 and it will serve students as well as to general public.
At the official opening of the Chill-out zone participated SUA representative, vice-rector Tomáš Tóth, for the city of Nitra it was Manager of SO for IROP, Katarína Koncošová. The invitation was also accepted by the dean of FBFS prof. Ján Tomáš. The welcome speech to participants, guests and students was given by the responsible project leader Ing. Marcel Golian, PhD., from the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering.
The green chill-out zone is built from natural materials in the context of the environment - a stylish palatial seating with planting of herbaceous and ornamental beds and fruit trees. The pallet seating consists of six modules, which symbolize the six SUA faculties. Each module contains different information about each faculty and university workplaces. For example, you can find out how many courses are taught at the FBFS, how many teachers are at each faculty, how many computers are in the university, but also that 200 plants were planted within the project, including Miscanthus. The species composition of green relaxation plants is shown on the FHLE module.
