HOW TO APPLY
1. Find out whether your university has a bilateral agreement with Slovak University of Agriculture
(Bilateral agreements of SUA academic year 2007/2008), contact your International Relations Office for more information
2. Choose courses you wish to study from our List of courses taught in English:

3. Download the ECTS Application and Learning agreement (annex 1)
and Registration for accommodation (annex 2) and fill them in in electronic form not by hand !!!
4. Enclose your Curriculum Vitae, Motivation Letter, Language Certificate and Copy of Passport or Identity Card
5. Send all documents to International Relations Office (contact) until
30 June for winter semester and 30 November for summer semester
6. Once we received all forms and you are accepted by the faculty you will receive the Letter of Acceptance.
7. When your accommodation is reserved, you will receive detailed information per email.
GETTING
TO NITRA
From
Vienna (Austria) - to Bratislava (40 km) - to Nitra (100 km) (total
140 km from Vienna to Nitra)
Arriving by air
at Vienna International Airport (also known as Schwechat): Just in front of the
Arrivals door at the Vienna airport is the departure point for Eurolines buses
to Bratislava's "Mlynske Nivy" bus station. (Look for Vienna - Bratislava stop).
Purchase your ticket from the driver. Cost is currently 9,-EUR plus 0.70 EUR per
piece for baggage.
From
Bratislava to Nitra:
From Bratislava's main bus station "Mlynske Nivy" to Nitra bus station (cca 80 min.).
Purchase your ticket from the bus driver.
Upon
arrival at Nitra bus station:
use the City Public Bus "MHD" transport (http://www.imhd.sk/nr).
The bus stop is a short walk down "Druzstevna", to "Stefanikova".
Cross to the other side for the bus stop to downtown, to "SPU" (Slovenska Pol'nohospodarska Univerzita)
with buses numbered 2, 12, 14, 15, or 25. Purchase your ticket from the driver (16,-SKK)
Get off at the second bus stop, or ask for stop "SPU". You may need to press the stop bell
located on the ceiling to signal the driver that you wish to get off. You will see the mushroom-shaped
main university rectorate building when you get off the bus.
From
Budapest, Hungary - to Nove Zamky (120 km) - to Nitra (35 km)
From the Budapest airport go to West (Nyugati) railway station or East (Keleti) railway station.
Take the train to Nove Zamky in Slovakia. In Nove Zamky, change to the local train to Nitra.
(Cost about 3 000,-HUF). In Nitra the railway station is close to the bus station. See section above,
"Upon arrival at Nitra bus station."
From
Prague (Czech Republic)
- to Bratislava, Slovakia (320 km) - to Nitra (100 km)
From Prague's main bus station, "Florenc", there is a direct bus that leaves every night at 22,30 (10:30 p.m.) to Nitra,
arriving at 5:30 a.m. The cost is about 400,-CZK. During the day, you will have to take a bus from Prague to
Bratislava, then change to the bus to Nitra. See section above, "Upon arrival at Nitra bus station."

Ad 1 Checking-in in the student hostel
Accomodation for ERASMUS Students is provided in student hostels "MLADOST" (Štúrova 3, 949 76 Nitra , tel: +421-37-6528 856 reception)
and "ANTON BERNOLAK" (Tr. Andreja Hlinku 38, Nitra, tel:+421-37-6529 205 reception). Both of them are situated
in the university campus. The rent is 1500 Sk per month (45 eur).
Rooms are reserved after submitting Registration for accommodation (annex 2) together
with your application to the International Relations Office (contact, how to apply).
Please note, the room/hostel is assigned to a student, students can not chose rooms or hostels. Also it is not possible to
change hostel after arrival. You will get information in which hostel and room you will stay per email.
After arrival, please register at the reception and get the key from your room. The key must be left at the reception each time you leave the hostel. If you loose the key, you have to pay 1000 Sk fee.
Ad 2 Registration at the university
Incoming ERASMUS students register in the International Relations Office (IRO) located in the Rectorate building
(the mushroom-shaped main university building), Tr. A. Hlinku 2, pavilion E, 2nd floor, room nr.213.
You can call extension 5490 from the reception at the entrance or 037/ 65 11 560, 037/ 641 5490 from outside the University.

For registration the following documents will be required:
Passport or ID
Personal health insurance contract valid for your study stay period
Your home university identity card
400 SKK (12 EUR) deposit for SUA student card (to be paid in the cash desk office, pavilion E, 1st floor,
You will be issued Slovak University of Agriculture student card valid for the period of your stay. This card is a proof that you are an ERASMUS student at our university and you will also need it for eating in the university canteens, registration into the university network to get internet connection or going to the library.
Before you leave this card has to be returned together with the receipt of the 400 Sk payment to receive the money back.
Then you will meet your faculty coordinator for ECTS regarding study matters (subjects chosen, changes to the learning agreement, meeting with professors, schedule etc.) During your stay for all questions related to study matters, please contact your faculty coordinator, in person, per phone or email
Ad 3 Registration at the Foreigners Police Office
All foreign students staying for more than 3 months must register at the Foreigners Police Office (Oddelenie cudzineckej polície),
Osvaldova ulica 1, Nitra within 3 days after their arrival.

Students from EU countries submit following documents:

The student must notify the Foreigners Police Office before leaving back for home.
Students from non-EU countries
Contact respective Slovak embassy or consulate in your home country before arriving in the SR. The Slovak embassy will provide
you with the necessary information regarding the documents needed for their study stay in the SR. The list of Slovak embassies
and consulates in different countries is available at the web site http://www.foreign.gov.sk/En/index.html
After arrival to SR you must ask for temporary residence permit and submit following documents:

2 identical passport photos, 3,5cm x 3 cm on white background
150 SKK registration fee; if you did not applied for visa at home you will apply here with a fee of 3000 SKK (91 EUR)
Confirmation of health - the foreign student from Turkey has to be examined at a health centre for foreign diseases to confirm that he/she does not suffer from any infectious illness (its spreading is a criminal act in Slovakia). Confirmation is to be submitted within 10 days after the arrival in the Slovak Republic. The price of medical examination is 3500 SKK (106 EUR) and is to be paid directly in the hospital.

Health insurance must be obtained after the arrival in the SR. The insurance will be issued by a Slovak insurance company

There are double rooms with own bathroom and cooking facilities in this hostel. There are TV rooms and study
rooms available for students as well as a computer room with internet connection in the basement. There is also a
students bar called V-Club and buffet in the basement. Bedding is provided, sheets are changed once a month. Students have
washing machines at their disposal (approx. 50 Sk / 1,60 euro per one washing). In the entrance hall the university canteen
is situated. The university Sport Center is situated next to this hostel and outdoor sport fields can be found behind the hostel.

Student hostel ANTON BERNOLAK

There are two double rooms sharing a bathroom together in this hostel. The cooking facilities are located
on each floor and shared with other students. Bedding is provided, sheets are changed once a month. Students
have washing machines at their disposal (approx. 50 Sk / 1,60 euro per one washing). There is a TV room and a
study room at every other floor. There is a computer room with internet connection in the B block and wi-fi internet
connection is available in the rooms. In the ground floor the university canteen and buffet is situated. For sports lovers
there is a room for table tennis, volleyball, basketball and tennis field behind the hostel.
MEDICAL CARE AND INSURANCE
Medical
services: University has its own health care service center for students
and employees, although you can select another doctor if you wish and if he/she accepts you. Always bring
you health insurance documents with you.
General practitioner is located in the students hostel Mladost
(entrance from the side of the High building, near the bridge)

Insurance:
Students from EU countries:
Foreign students from EU countries should bring European Card of Health Insurance from their home countries. Additional
travel health insurance is recommended.
Students from non-EU countries:
Health insurance must be obtained after the arrival in the SR. The insurance will be issued by a Slovak insurance

MEUNIVERSITY CANTEENS
There are two canteens at the campus. One in the student hostel Mladost and one in the student hostel Anton Bernolak.
Both of them offering selection of 4 full meals for lunch (soup and main course, that has to be ordered at least one day
before and selection of 6-8 different main courses for lunch and dinner without ordering. The price varies according to
the meal from 10SKK to 45 SKK (0,30 - 1,40 euro).
Student card of the Slovak University of Agriculture is needed for eating in the canteens. First you have to deposit some
money on your account in the cash desk office located in hostel Anton Bernolak (turn left at the reception). Minimum payment
is 100 SKK. The price of the meal is then taken off your account.
You can also buy a token here for deposit of 100 SKK, that is exchanged for the cutlery each time you go to eat or you can
bring your own cutlery if you want.
Ordered meals:
There are 4 full meals (soup and main course) available each day to choose from. Students order at least one day before
(until 2pm) at the terminals in front of the canteens. At the counter you show your card to the terminal and the personnel
will see which meal you have ordered.
Meals without order:
There are 6-8 single meals available each day to choose from. At the counter you first press the number of the meal
you have selected and then show the card to the terminal, it will show your name and the price of the meal which will
be taken off your account.
Students are entitled to 2 meals a day for the reduced price. You can take more, but then you will pay the full
price for the third and further meals taken. The list of the prices is displayed in front of the canteen as well as the menu
of the week.

SOCIAL
AMENITIES AND SPORT FACILITIES
The
University shares sports facilities, and the student needs to be registered
with the specialist heading the particular type of facility.
The sports activities mentioned below are provided for students and staff
by the
Department of Physical Training and Sports.
It is possible to use: swimming pool, sports hall, fitness club, regeneration
centre with sauna, boat dock, tennis courts, playing fields for team sports.

The department prepares sports representatives of the University in cooperation
with the sport club “ TJ SLAVIA”.
Tennis
Centre
The first facilities of the centre were opened to tennis players in 1985
and today the University tennis premises are ranked among the best in
the Slovak Republic. The Centre has en-tout-cash tennis courts equipped
with artificial lighting. The tennis hall is comprised of two tennis courts
and balconies for 400 viewers. In the hall, there are two shooting machines
for training. Tennis players can use a sauna, a solarium, a whirlpool
and fitness rooms to regenerate. The Tennis Club, a bar and a hotel for
32 people are part of the Tennis Area.
Close cooperation with other partners has lead to the foundation of the
tennis club SPU-AX-Výstavníctvo. The club has been charged with holding
the tennis tournament Challenger of the World Tennis Federation as well
as the Masters tournament for men, and it is part of the Slovak satellite
tennis tournament tour.

The Training and Recreational Centre of SAU in Raèkova dolina is
situated in the western part of the High Tatra mountains. The beautiful
scenery, quiet surroundings and clean air are among the greatest advantages
of the Centre. A sauna, a fitness centre and sport grounds are available
for the visitors. In winter the area offers good conditions for skiing,
sledding and bobsledding. The Centre has its own small ski-lift.

The
Student Club
was established with the objective of helping the students at the University
develop cultural and social activities and spend their free time in a
useful way. The Club also participates in the representation of the University.

The
folklore ensemble “ZOBOR”
was established in 1955 as one of the first amateur university ensembles
in Slovakia. In the ensemble there are 50 members including university
students and staff as well as students of other schools in Nitra.
Its activity focuses on performing the adapted folk songs, dances and
traditions of the Nitra region and part of the repertoire is always devoted
to other ethnographic areas of Slovakia. Since its establishment, the
ensemble ZOBOR has presented its art through over 1,900 performances in
19 countries of Europe and Asia. The ensemble is a winner of many prestigious

Slovak Republic
Population: 5,4 mil. The official language is Slovak. Hungarian,
Ruthenian, Ukrainian and German are spoken by ethnic minorities. English
is also spoken.
Time: GMT + 2 (GMT + 1 from last Sunday in October to last Saturday
in March).
Currency: SKK – Slovak Crown – Slovenská koruna (on June 2003 approx.
1 EUR = 41 SKK)
Electricity: Generally 220 volts AC, 50Hz.

country, with the exception of remote areas.
Climate: The Slovak Republic lies in a moderate zone and possesses
a continental climate with four distinct seasons. The average daily temperature
in winter is 2°C rising to 21°C in the summer. January is the coldest
month, the hottest being July and August.
Required clothing: Medium weights, heavy topcoat and overshoes for winter;
lightweights for summer. Rainwear is advisable throughout the year.

MASTER, MAESTRO-Cirrus, Golden CARD and others.
